AUSTEGA USES BOTH Macromedia and Microsoft development tools.
This allows us to use the most appropriate tool for the particular task.
In many cases this depends on the client's needs and ongoing role in
maintaining and developing the site. It is not particularly useful to
have a site developed using one tool and paradigm if the client's expertise
and capacities are in another direction entirely.
For instance the Capital
Insight and P&C
Federation web-sites were developed with Microsoft FrontPage
and delivered with tailored instructions so the client could maintain
the information without having to pay for further web design services.
Tools used by Austega include:
- Dreamweaver MX
- Flash MX
- Fireworks MX
- FrontPage
- Visual Studio
- Director
- Acrobat Writer
- Photoshop
- WaveStudio
- Access
- Contribute
- Ektron Content Management Systems
Cost-efficient tools are essential to automate and manage the multitude
of work streams required to author and maintain a vibrant and living
site. Many of our sites are designed to allow various levels or types
of decentralized authoring by clients - from simple text editing in
NotePad to various levels of WYSIWYG authoring using free and commercial
authoring programs. In some cases a more complex database driven approach
to control and streamline decentralized authoring is appropriate.
While ongoing maintenance goals can often determine the key authoring
approach, state-of-the-art tools are still essential to deliver engaging
interactive experiences on the web and intranet. The need for glitz
is often overplayed, but the need for user engagement is not.
