It's dim, isn't it?
Any right-thinking individual would think so. But that I guess is the problem. The world is less and less for the individual.
Even industrial barons and political names are held by a morass that drags them into line, that sucks them down when they miss their footing, that quibbles with their individual sparks... Where is the medieval lord? the aristocratic poet? where is Marx now?
Of course if you have a little more than the rest, and are prepared to go with the flow, you can lull yourself into a pleasant existence... One where the child's first concert or their broken arm become the turning points.
