Weavers' cottages in Ribchester

Our SEED ancestors descend from John SEED who was married in 1673 in Ribchester, Lancashire. From then until around 1760 the family lived in the old Roman town - when the family moved to the nearby bigger town of Preston. In 1766 James SEED married Dorothy MARSDEN in the parish church of St John's, Preston.

The oldest son of James and Dorothy was Henry, who married Margaret. Their oldest son was John, a labourer, who moved back to Ribchester, where he married Jane MAYMON in 1816. Their oldest son was Edward, a blacksmith at Chadwick's Orchard, who married Alice WYKE, the weaver. Their oldest daughter was the dressmaker, Jane SEED, who married Robert KELLETT, the master tailor, in St Walburge's Church, Preston in 1864.
