John MARSDEN was born around 1837 in Barnacre, Lancashire, England, the son of Robert and Alice MARSDEN. He married Jane PEDDER and they had children Ellen, Robert and William in Claughton, Lancashire. In 1881 John was working as a Paper Mill Labourer. By 1901 the family was living in Preston.
Robert MARSDEN married Margaret FAZACKERLEY in Preston in 1890. They had children Richard, John Fazackerly, Robert, William, Lucy Ann, James, Frank and Nellie.
Margaret FAZACKERLEY was the daughter of Richard FAZACKERLEY who was a publican and ran the "New Ship Inn" in Preston.
