London Great Synagogue 1870

Joseph LYONS was born around 1792 in Whitechapel, in London's East End. He worked variously as a clothes' salesman in Westminster and later as a Scaler and then as General Dealer in the Spitalfields area. His wife's name was Mary. They lived in the Petticoat Lane area, in Eastman's Court and in Middlesex Street. Joseph was described as "Joseph son of Moshe".

Joseph and Mary had children: Abraham, Esther, Leah, Dinah and Lewis.

Leah married Samuel MYERS in the Great Synagogue of London in 1858. Samuel later described himself as a "boot rivetter" living in Mile End, New Town, London.

Dinah married Solomon A. GREEN, a General Dealer, in the Great Synagogue in 1868. They lived for a while in the Spitalfields area, and later in Mile End. They had children Louis, Leah, Bessey and Esther.
