Where in the world are we?
It is 14 December and we are walking on
a path beside a river, and the tide is out, and we can see the
mud-banks on either side. Yet this is still a major river which
has seen more history on its banks than most - from a Roman invasion
to bombing from the air in this century. Across the river we can
see a famous clock whose chimes are heard around the world.
